About us
Millets, cooked with patience
Our story
Pearl Sattva started with a simple frustration: millet food that was either bland or quietly padded with rice and maida. We spent a year in our own kitchen, one grain at a time, learning how varagu behaves differently from thinai, how long ragi batter should ferment in Chennai humidity, and how to get a millet dosa genuinely crisp at the edges.
What began as weekend batches for family and neighbours became a small cloud kitchen. We still soak and grind in short cycles, still ferment naturally overnight, and still cook each order only after it comes in.
Founder note
“I grew up eating varagu and thinai at my grandmother's table, then spent twenty years not eating them at all. Bringing those grains back into an everyday breakfast — one that children actually finish — is the whole point of Pearl Sattva. If a dish doesn't taste good, no amount of nutrition will save it. So we cook for taste first, and let the millets do the rest.”

The six millets
What each grain brings to the plate
Kodo Millet
Varagu
High in fibre and slow-digesting — keeps blood sugar steady and hunger away for longer.
Little Millet
Samai
Rich in iron and B-vitamins; light on the stomach, ideal for daily tiffin.
Barnyard Millet
Kuthiraivali
The highest fibre of the small millets, with a low glycaemic load.
Foxtail Millet
Thinai
Loaded with calcium and iron; supports bone strength and steady energy.
Proso Millet
Panivaragu
Good plant protein and lecithin — nourishing for nerves and memory.
Finger Millet
Ragi
Exceptional calcium content; naturally cooling and gut-friendly.

Our commitment
Three things we never compromise
Zero maida
No refined flour, no rice-flour shortcuts. Millets and pulses only, in every batter.
No preservatives
Nothing to extend shelf life. Our batter kits are dated and meant to be used within days.
Made fresh to order
Dosas hit the griddle after your order is placed — never held under a lamp.
